  2. Execute. Once the current environment is baselined and a future state determined and an adequate initial business case has been identified, it's time to define the requirements and begin the process of identifying new players in the operating model.   3. Optimze. While managing a transition or transformation is no easy feat ("9-miles of bad road" under the best of circumstances), keeping the environment fresh over time is an enormous challenge.
